AKA applies experience and expertise to every aspect of project management, including project scope and needs analysis, critical path development and the establishment of effective communication between all involved parties. These factors help maintain critical time lines and lead to successful projects. Our particular areas of specialty in this field include projects in marine engineering, technical information management, engineering systems integration management and documentation development, both on-site and off-site.

AKA’s project management services incorporate a number of integral components including:

  • Provision of a dedicated project and vendor management team;
  • On-site (as required) and off-site project administration support through AKA administrative personnel;
  •  Office infrastructure for on-site support of the Project Manager and associated AKA staff (includes all office setup, hardware, phones, communications, etc.);
  •  Participation in the development of the shipyard and sub-supplier specification;
  • Participation in the initial analysis of project risks with periodic review, updates and adjustments as required;
  • Review of provided engineering and documentation, ensuring that the proper standards are maintained and that the engineering model works and reflects the specification;
  • Maintenance of required project documentation and procedures to ensure quality standards are met and to effectively maintain, track and manage all aspects of the project;
  • Issue tracking throughout the project duration;
  • Change order management and negotiation;
  • Provision and maintenance of current, project-related commercial data and cost calculation sheets, that are easily accessible for client review at any time;
  • Provision of current, accessible technical data for all parties through a controlled access, project-specific website;
  • Attendance and participation in project meetings;
  • Attendance at, and supervision of, supplier/sub-supplier inspections, tests and trials;
  • Coordination and development of effective Test and Trials documentation based upon a system’s accurately defined functional specifications;
  • Effective and efficient management of project resources and liaison with appropriate parties to ensure all fiscal and technical objectives are met;
  • Regular reports of project progress to all parties along with maintenance of an in-depth project schedule with close monitoring of sub-supplier schedules and critical timelines;
  • Maintenance and monitoring of the project responsibility matrix;
  • Maintenance and management of a detailed defect list, as well as non-conformance reports, issued to suppliers as required;
  • Provision of quick and decisive responses to customer/contractor concerns (through on-site presence); and
  • Use of the AKA Integrated Engineering Toolset (IET™) for realization of many of the above issues.
